Matsumoto-jō

Matsumoto-jō  (literally Matsumoto Castle) is one of the first Japanese historical castles located in the province of Matsumoto, a few hours by train from Tokyo. Built on flatlands by the end of 16th century, Matsumoto castle defences rely on an extensive system of interconnecting walls, moats, and gatehouses.
