Fifty-eight

Reykjavík Skyline

The photo shows an outlook of the Reykjavík Bay shot from a place near the Viking Boat sculpture, close to the city centre. The sight is of a part of the city usually not visited by tourists. The buildings, newly constructed, follow the colourful tradition of the older ones. The locals claim that the colourful paints used on their external walls are meant to combat the disquiet caused by the long and dark winters.
