Piss Alley, Tokyo

Leaving Shinjuku station through the west gate, you’ll find Omoide Yokocho (literally Memory Lane). However, it’s known among the locals by “Piss Alley”.  It’s an astonishing narrow street, crammed with yakitori grills, and food stalls where people go to have a quick meal or to spend quality time in the company of friends, good food and a comforting Japanese beer. A marvellous place where the walls and ceilings of the restaurants are coal black from the smoke of the barbecues. The beer, the umeshu, the food, and the atmosphere always make the night.
A must go to any tourist visiting Tokyo. I loved it.
