Rickshaw and shafu

Rickshaws and its shafu, Japanese name given to the pullers, are unexpectedly widespread in modern Japan. In touristic areas like the Asakusa neighbourhood of Tokyo. However, far from being the miserable profession it once was, nowadays shafus are often sportsmen and artists who, with their fit bodies and friendly smile, have become sex symbols of the Japanese society.

A version with a stronger contrast was published in olhares.com and it was awarded the prizes:  “curator’s choice” and “popular photo”.
